Process Versus Product: Explain what makes the one process art and the other product art.

Process versus product. Children’s art can generally be broken down into these two (2) different categories.
Generally speaking, with process art, the value is in the child’s experience of creating and exploring materials and techniques. In this approach, the art is unstructured and completely child centered. A teacher provides supplies and encourage children to make whatever they want or encourage them to create. In this approach, children have a choice, the process is more important.
In contrast, with product art, what matters is in the end result rather than in the experience of producing it. Product art is structured, and teacher directed. Usually with product art it is the teacher’s ideas or models and not the child’s.
