Religious Studies and Theology: Explain how the intention, object, and circumstances of an act are the sources of the morality of a given act.

All page counts are in double spaced amounts. Citations are needed only in shortened, parenthetical form. These are set in order to force you to be clear and exact. Please keep the question text in the file that you turn in. I will be including lectures that will help with this as well as some scans of pages from a book. All work should be Thomistic in perspective. 1. (3-4 pages, 30 points) Explain the the “12 Stages” of moral reasoning (especially the first 8 dedicated to the order of intention and the order of deliberation / choice). Be sure to explain the role of the virtues in these various stages. (For now, limit yourself to the moral virtues or to the “Christian moral virtues”. The theological virtues are more difficult here.) 2. (2-3 pages, 20 points) Presupposing the discussion from question one, explain how the intention, object, and circumstances of an act are the sources of the morality of a given act. (Use examples to help make your answer clear. ) 3. (4-6 pages, 50 points) Explain why Christian morality is “Christic Beatitude lived through the exercise of the Virtues.” Be sure to include the following notions as you reflect on the topic: divinization, natural moral virtue, the theological virtues, “Christian moral virtue,” and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
