Answer the following questions:
View the Developmental Research Methods and Challenges Lecture prior to completing this assignment.
1. The Developmental Research Methods and Challenges Lecture covers a diverse array of developmental methods – some of which are possible for you to use in your study and others are not. Which methods may be useful or possible to incorporate in your group project?
(hint: cannot be longitudinal)
2. In addition to describing specific methods, the Developmental Research Methods and Challenges Lecture also includes more general information about things to keep in mind when conducting developmental research. What information did you learn while viewing the lecture that is relevant to your project?
3. At this point we’ve learned about many different methods, and this question challenges you to consider how you might use a variety of methods to answer a question your research group is interested in. Write down one research question or topic you have discussed with your group. Write a brief descriiption of how you might research this question or topic using each of the following methods: A) How could you research this question using an observational study? B) How could you research this question using an experimental study? C) How could you research this question using a survey?
4. Think about how your research question/topic would be considered “developmental”: A) Explain how you will look at this question developmentally (e.g., by comparing age groups, using children as participants, examining an aspect of a child’s environment like language parents use with children, etc.). B) What age group might you use for your study and how could you support that age group selection with past research or a logical argument?
