A. As Unit 1 provides an introduction to human resource management, your assignment is to interview your human resource manager and determine their responsibilities for their position. You can interview any individual as long as they work in HR. Ask them about their job duties and requirements. Ask them about their job descriiption and their job functions. Find out as much as possible about that individual and their HR position. Let me know if you need help finding an HR manager for this interview. I can put you in contact with someone, or you can interview me about my previous HR experiences.
B. After you conduct the interview, you will write about your interview experiences. In this write-up, provide the information from the individual you interviewed. Then compare your thoughts about HRM and compare and contrast the company’s ideas of HRM to your own (utilizing the information from chapter one). For example, some companies believe employees should work 8 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday. You might believe in schedule flexibility and think employees should be able to work any hours as long as their job is complete. Maybe Jason has to drop off his son at school at 8 am. Would you allow him to work from 9 am to 5 pm? These are the items that you should compare and contrast your company’s ideas to your ideas. Last, ensure you keep names anonymous from the interview and do not “bash” the company, but provide a compare and contrast essay on HR practices.
