What are the Disparities in Maternity care that results in disproportionate mortality rates in Black Women.

Aims:• The causes of disparities in maternity care.• Why does this result in disproportionate mortality ratesFrameworks• Intersectionality• EugenicsAnalysis• Narrative Analysis• Analysis of NarrativeData• Narrative• Maternity mortality data baseMethodsQualitative: Interviews or Focus groups with the following• Women /Mothers with experience with antenatal and postnatal care• Surviving partners/ next of kin of desased mothers• Medical Professionals e.g. Doctors, midwives, doulas, nurses, health visitors• Auto-ethnography of my personal experience. Research Design ReportIt will consist of you designing a small research study, identifying your research questionsand how you will try to answer them, using one qualitative method or a survey design thathas been covered in the module. For example, the qualitative method might be anethnography or focus group. As well as using the method, you will need to:• provide an account of the details of the method, such as how you chose thesite/place to do your ethnography;• How you approached ethical issues (e.g. informed consent, anonymising the data);• How you coded your data;• Identify your main findings; including a reflective commentary on the main methodthat you have used.• Throughout the report you need to reference relevant methodological literature.Because this will be a mixed methods design, you will have to demonstrate your knowledgeof both quantitative and qualitative methods and how they might be appropriate for yourstudy. For example, if you are looking at why student in-person attendance at university hasdeclined in a post-pandemic era, you might start with a focus group to explore the issuesthat students say affect their attendance and then use the findings to design a survey. Thispart of the report will be shorter but will still need to include a rationale for your choice ofsurvey design. You will need to include:• A description of your chosen survey design and a rationale for why this particularform of survey aligns with your research questions• Sampling: Describe your approach to selecting the sample and the choice of thesurvey’s target group or location• Ethical Considerations: Describe the specific ethical concerns relating to your survey, especially with regard to informed consent and the confidentiality andanonymisation of the data• Data Analysis: Describe how you would analyse the data, identifying and describingany relevant statistical testsYour discussion throughout should be informed by academic literature (we expect you toexplore the literature beyond the core readings) and include methodological reflectionsfrom the module. For example, you might have gained practical experience of analyticaltechniques or methods in one of the preparatory tasks or workshop activities which you canuse as the basis of your reflection. You can compare aspects of the two methods, but this isnot the overall aim of the assessment. The point of the assessment is to demonstrate yourknowledge and understanding of the specificities of each method and how they can be usedtogeth
